It is the policy of Matrix to provide services in compliance with all state and federal laws governing their respective operations, and consistent with the highest standards of business and professional ethics. In order to implement this policy, Matrix has established a Legal and Regulatory Compliance Program ("the Program"). The Program is directed by a Compliance Officer, who is charged with reviewing our compliance policies and specific compliance situations that may arise.
Area of focus of the Program include: (1) employee responsibilities, (2) coding, billing, and claims, (3) reasonable and necessary services, (4) documentation, (5) patient referrals/payments/discounts/gifts, (6) investments in healthcare entities, (7) recordkeeping and retention, (8) confidentiality, (9) corporate practice of medicine/fee splitting, (10) site of service requirements, (11) conflicts of interest, (12) controlled substances, (13) independent contractors & vendors, and (14) response to investigations. A written copy of our Program is provided to all employees, and all employees receive training on the Program. All employees are required to report any apparent violation of this Policy to their supervisor or the Compliance Officer. Failure to report conduct that may be in violation of Matrix's Legal and Regulatory Compliance Program may result in disciplinary action.
